Wale, Similoluwa & Anike Adeniyi 6th April 2013

You wouldn’t talk. The ladies in scrubs, they came to me immediately: Amidst the splatters of ‘so sorry for your loss’, I heard one intone a definitive “let it out Mr. Adeniyi, It is OK to cry!” But you, you said nothing. Of course they had no idea how inadequate an expression for grief tears had suddenly become. I had not just lost a wife, I had lost my only sister and closest friend on this side of the divide. It felt like the death of a million stars in the hidden galaxy - like all the elements were at once rebellious and vengeful. “It is OK to cry.” Tears are the watering springs of a hurting heart, what do you do with a perpetually burning soul? You were better with this kind of stuff but you said nothing. Maybe One day we will talk about that one as well, or maybe not. The Lord did say He has something better in store for us.
